NextGen Resources

Welcome to Self-Denial 2026—Motivated By Love

Our NextGen resources includes Kids Ministry Programme, Youth Bible Study Sheets, Money Box and Intergenerational Children’s video series.

Our God is a God of love. He calls us to stand firm in our faith, to be courageous and to live each day with strength and confidence in His promises. No matter what challenges we face, we can trust that God’s love is the foundation for our hope, our joy and our peace.

Kids Ministry Programme

We are super excited to provide you with a Kids Ministry programme that not only promotes Self-Denial but is an opportunity to bring an intentional focus by taking your children and their families on a journey that continues to foster and grow their understanding about the sacrificial lifestyle that God requires of us.

While Self-Denial starts during the school holidays for New Zealand, it might vary for Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. Therefore, we would like to encourage you to get creative if Self-Denial does start in the school holidays. Because of this, we will be offering a Self-Denial Kids video series from week 3—see schedule on our Leader’s Guide Sheet.

The leader’s guide will give you a programme to follow and room to add your own creativity. We also have the option of making your own ‘Money Box’ or a template for the children to make and decorate.

Youth Bible Studies

This six-part series is a resource for youth leaders to use in small groups with young people. It is available to download or read online.

Week One: Introduction

As we begin Self-Denial this year, we’re focusing on being Motivated by Love. Letting our actions, choices, serving and giving flow from a heart shaped by God’s love.

Week Two: Be on Your Guard

As followers of Jesus, we’re called to guard two important things. Self-Denial is one way we join The Salvation Army in fighting for justice and care.

Week Three: Stand Firm

The Bible tells us our true foundation is God and our relationship with Him. Standing firm means trusting Him as our foundation, especially when the waves get big.

Week Four: Be Courageous

Self-Denial is an act of courage. It’s a moment when we give something up and trust God to use it in ways we might never see.

Week Five: Be Strong

This week we’ll learn how Jesus showed a very different kind of strength. Strength that looked like serving, humility, listening and gentleness.

Week Six: Do Everything in Love

God is good and full of love. God calls us to live and act from that same love, to let love be the motivation behind everything we do.
