WEEK FIVE | YOUTH BIBLE STUDIES

What Is That In Your Hand?

Read John 21:15–17

Talk about it

It’s easy to feel like we don’t have enough to make a difference. We might ask, ‘What can I really do?’ or ‘What difference will my prayers or my giving make?’ But here’s the thing: God isn’t looking for us to have it all figured out. He’s asking, ‘What is that in your hand? What do you already have?’

In the story of Moses, God told him to use what he had in his hand, and he did amazing things with it. Moses felt inadequate and afraid, caught up in the ‘what-ifs’, but God used what Moses had to do something huge. God doesn’t need us to have everything perfect—he just needs us to be willing to offer what we have.

God is bigger than what we feel our gaps are.

God is bigger than what we feel we can or can’t offer.

God is bigger than our fear.

God is bigger than doubt.

God is bigger than the little we might have.

Another incredible story of someone giving what they could is found in Luke 21:1–4, so I encourage you to have a read. The widow shared all she could, and Jesus honoured that. When we give what we can God will use that and bless that.

We may not have much, but God can multiply it and use it in ways we can’t imagine.

Think about it

What are the small things in your life that you can offer to God? Your time, talents, energy or even a small donation?

How can you use what you have today to make a difference for someone else?

Do it

This week, find one thing you can offer—big or small—to bless others. It could be your time to volunteer, a kind word to someone in need, or helping a friend with something.

Pray about it

God, thank you that you are bigger than us. Thank you that you will use what we have in our hands for your amazing plans. God, please give us the strength to surrender the things we have, so that you can do what only you can do. Thank you Jesus, Amen.
